Katharina Westphal- Professional Counseling

About Me

I’m Katharina Westphal, and at the heart of my work is a genuine love of helping people.

I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology from the University of Liverpool, complemented by specialised training in trauma, attachment, eating disorders and perinatal mental health.

Before psychology, I spent years in marketing and strategy for major international companies, living and working across several countries. It shaped how I work today: we start by understanding where you are, look honestly at what’s going on, and build a way forward that is realistic — and your own.

Psychological support can help us understand and work through what we are experiencing, while coaching can help us use that understanding to create direction and move towards the changes we want to make.

A love for helping people.

Psychology has been part of my life since I was a kid- when I said I wanted to become a psychologist. I have always been curious about what shapes us — how we think, feel and behave, and how our experiences influence the way we navigate life. More importantly, the power we have to shape our life is we believe it.

What began as a strong interest became a clear desire to work with people. For me, it is about creating a space where you can better understand what you have and are experiencing, feel supported, and find a way forward.

Before moving into psychology, I spent many years working in marketing and strategy within major FMCG companies, living and working across different countries.

Strategy starts with understanding where you are and where you want to be. Then you look at the data, understand what it is telling you, bring the different pieces together, and build a strategy to move forward.

I bring this same strategic thinking into personal work — helping you build a strategy for your life that is realistic, meaningful and your own.

Driven by strategy.

Coaching helps us recognize the tools we already have within ourselves — our strengths, resources, values and abilities — and use them to create the changes we want to see in our lives.

My role is to help you identify those tools, understand how to use them, and turn them into action of changing behaviors.

my 3 step Therapeutic Approach

  • Empty red starburst shape on a white background.

    Regulate

We begin by learning how to regulate your body and mind so that you feel safe enough to explore your past, your worries, and current life challenges.

  • A beige, scalloped circle shape on a white background.

    Reflect

With a greater sense of stability, we gently reflect on past experiences and current patterns, making sense of how they affect you today.

  • Empty blue ring with black center on white background.

    Reconnect

We strengthen resilience, support new ways of relating, and help you move forward with greater clarity and self-trust.

II am a lover of life, animals, kiddos and learning. Nature is an important source of grounding and energy for me. I find restoration outdoors and with my horse, and this connection shapes my work—bringing calm, presence, and respect for each person’s pace into the support I offer.
